We organized an Interaction and Support Program for Women with Disabilities in Imphal East and Imphal West Districts. The initiative was conducted under the supervision of Media Advisor Shri Nimol Ningombam and Chief Functionary Shri M. Premier Singh (International Awardee).
The program aimed to empower women and girls with disabilities by promoting their full and effective participation in society and advancing gender equality. It focused on addressing the systemic challenges faced by women with disabilities, including:
Marginalization and discrimination leading to lower economic and social status.
Increased risk of violence and abuse, including sexual violence.
Barriers to education and healthcare, particularly sexual and reproductive health services.
Limited access to justice, information, and civic and political participation.
The initiative emphasized the need for inclusive policies, awareness, and community engagement to ensure that women with disabilities can live with dignity, independence, and equal opportunities.
